John 6:27 "Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval." This verse can mean many things. I take it as this. Work for Jesus, work to save others instead of working for things of the world like drugs and sex. If you have Jesus, you will be fulfilled for as long as you live and in Heaven. Jesus is the only way you can get to Heaven, he will give you eternal life. God has approved of Jesus. So, reach for Jesus, and not the world. What the world has to offer will spoil quickly, but what Jesus has will last forever. John 14:14 "You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it" Jesus is saying that if you ask for anything from him and you want it for the better of something, and you ask for it in his name, he WILL give it to you. It pretty much explains itself. (my best friend's favorite verse) Titus 3:5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy... This statement is a key verse to receiving salvation. You don't have to be perfect, or do good deeds to be saved. Salvation does not come from your acts, it comes from Jesus' mercy. This statement disproves many religions, all you have to do to get to Heaven is believe Jesus took on the burdens of the world when he died on the cross. Your righteousness has nothing to do with it, you don't have to be perfect to receive salvation. Galatians 5:19-21 The acts of sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, self ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. This is basically listing things not to do, that are sinful. If you do one of these, you become vulnerable to the rest of them. And like it says, if you live like that, you won't inherit the kingdom of God, which is of course heaven. |
